Botox Treatment

A Personalized Approach to Smoother Expression Lines

Your face moves differently from everyone else’s. The way you smile, raise your eyebrows, and concentrate helps determine where expression lines appear and how they should be treated. Atossa Medical Spa offers Botox in La Mesa and La Jolla with treatment planning guided by your facial anatomy, muscle activity, and the changes you want to see.

Led by Dr. Fatemeh Esfahani, our practice takes a personalized approach to nonsurgical facial rejuvenation. Your consultation gives you time to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and understand what Botox can realistically accomplish.

Which Areas Can Botox Address?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and vertical neck bands in adults. The appropriate treatment areas depend on your anatomy and medical assessment.

Horizontal Forehead Creases

Raising your eyebrows folds the skin across your forehead. Botox can soften these horizontal lines by reducing activity in selected muscles. Forehead treatment requires careful assessment of your brow position and the muscles that support it.

Frown Lines Between the Eyebrows

The vertical lines sometimes called “11s” become visible when you draw your eyebrows together. Treating this area can reduce the appearance of lines that make your expression look tense, even when you feel relaxed.

Lines Around the Outer Eyes

Smiling and squinting create small folds at the outer corners of the eyes. Botox can soften these crow’s feet by targeting the surrounding muscle activity.

Additional Areas for Individual Assessment

Atossa also discusses concerns involving the brow and lines around the lips. Certain techniques in these areas are considered off-label, meaning they fall outside BOTOX Cosmetic’s FDA-approved cosmetic indications. Dr. Esfahani can explain whether a particular approach is appropriate and discuss its limitations and risks.

Why Relaxing a Muscle Can Soften a Wrinkle

Expression lines form where muscle contractions repeatedly fold the skin. Botox temporarily blocks the release of a chemical messenger involved in activating the injected muscle. With less contraction, the overlying skin creases less strongly.

This makes Botox particularly useful for dynamic wrinkles, which become more noticeable with movement. Lines that remain visible when your face is resting may respond differently and may need a broader treatment plan. Botox does not replace lost facial volume in the way a dermal filler does.

From Consultation to Your Developing Results

Discuss the Changes You Want to See

Your visit begins with a conversation about the areas that concern you, your previous experience with injectables, and your preferred outcome. You can also ask about alternatives and the expected cost before deciding whether to proceed.

Assess Movement and Plan Treatment

Your provider evaluates your face at rest and during expressions such as smiling, frowning, and raising your eyebrows. This assessment helps guide the treatment areas and injection plan.

Receive the Injections

After the skin is prepared, small amounts of Botox are injected into selected muscles using a fine needle. You may feel brief pinches at the injection sites.

Follow Aftercare

You will receive instructions for caring for the treated areas. Results develop gradually rather than appearing immediately. For forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, changes may begin within one to two days, with full results assessed at around 30 days. Individual responses vary.

Choosing Between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are different botulinum toxin products used to reduce selected muscle activity. Atossa’s neurotoxin services include these options, allowing the consultation to address which product suits your treatment needs.

Their formulations, approved indications, and dosing differ. Units are specific to each product and cannot be compared directly. A lower advertised price per unit therefore does not necessarily mean a lower total treatment cost.

Your previous response, the area being treated, and your medical history can help guide the choice. No single neuromodulator is the best option for every patient.

Considering Botox Before Lines Become More Pronounced

Some adults ask about Botox when expression lines first begin to bother them. Reducing repeated muscle contraction may help limit creasing while the treatment is active, but Botox does not stop skin aging or guarantee that future wrinkles will be prevented.

The decision to begin treatment should depend on your concerns, facial movement, and medical suitability rather than reaching a particular age. Daily sun protection and appropriate skin care remain part of caring for your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Results for forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet may last up to four months. The duration varies, and your provider can recommend when to reassess treatment based on your response.

The amount and placement of Botox influence how much movement remains. Explain how much softening you want during your consultation so your provider can discuss a realistic plan. Results cannot be guaranteed.

Treatment cost can depend on the areas treated, the recommended amount of product, and the provider. When comparing quotes, ask which product is included and whether the price covers your complete treatment plan. Contact Atossa for current pricing.

Look for a licensed medical professional who evaluates your health, explains the treatment and its risks, and answers your questions clearly. Ask about their experience with your areas of concern and how they handle follow-up care.

Most patients describe the injections as brief pinches. Sensitivity varies by person and treatment area. Let your provider know if you are concerned about discomfort before treatment begins.

Possible effects include injection-site discomfort, bruising, headache, and temporary eyelid or eyebrow drooping. Serious reactions can occur. Seek immediate medical attention for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing after treatment. Review the full safety information and your individual risks with your provider.

No. Botox reduces selected muscle activity, while dermal fillers add volume in appropriate areas. If your concerns include both expression lines and volume loss, your consultation can address whether either treatment, or a combination, fits your goals.
